Crieff Hydro
Background
Crieff Hydro is a Scottish resort not far from Perth. It is packed with many facilities including spa, gym, pool, cinema and multiple restaurants.
We were asked to update the ageing gym floor and bring it up to date with current hotel gym trends.

Consultation Process
Initially we carried out a site survey to establish the structure of the building and its sub floor. There was lots of cabling infrastructure in place, so we had to carefully plan how the new floor would integrate without issue.

We consulted not only with Crieff Hydro but also their equipment supplier Technogym. We put a specification together based on the equipment layout, current market trends and something that was low maintenance.

Installation Process
We had a very tight window to work to- only 4 days. This included the removal of the old floor, installation of a robust plywood layer and then the floor finish.

In the weights area we installed our 30mm XL Connect rubber tile in colour black/grey. We also installed some black rubber ramps to remove a potential trip hazard. In the main gym space we installed Gerflor’s Creation 70 luxury vinyl tile in colour ‘Muse Smoked’ Creation 70 Vinyl floor covering by Gerflor. Finally, we installed a polyethylene green artificial turf in the functional zone.

Results
What a transformation! The dated gym carpet is gone, and in its place is a clean and low maintenance gym floor. The room feels bigger and is a more hygienic space to workout in.
Jack Mitschke, Gym Manager said, ‘The gym looks really nice, definitely much better in person. We’ve had very positive feedback; floor makes a huge difference’.
